In 2006, I visited the De Young Museum in San Francisco to see the exhibition of the quilts of Gee's Bend. The quilts made of worn clothes, by the African American women, evoke the important history. They reminded me of how Chinese women used similar ideas and techniques to survive over generations. Working with these humble materials, burlap, ink, found fabrics, needles, and threads, I'm happy to see things merge together by its nature, which is beyond the remembrance and surviving.
